3D LOGO MOCKUP Tutorial
This video is a 3D logo mockup tutorial. Actually, when I watch it, i don't really understand it but I try to. It is a different technic which some of it I haven't known before. I think these video is very useful but hopefully someone will make it in Thai version so that I I can understand clearly.

Week4 3D

GROUP EXERCISE

 • THIS WEEK – Experimentation: Exploring & Challenging
o Each group member choose the best of their designs from last week’s practical
o The group votes on the 3 best designs
o Using the idea of experimentation the whole group discusses and researches
how each chosen design concept could be explored and challenged
o The Scribe for each group documents findings for 3 designs under these
headings
a) Design Exploration
b) Design Challenges

 Design from Methavi

Material – inner tube, plastic basin, two-piece caddle
Shape - round
Power – energy from human

a) Design Exploration
- The concept is very clever but need to develop design.

b) Design Challenges
It is a very good idea for personal eco-transport but how about these things?
            - Safe?
            - Convenient?

My design
Function - float on the water
                - light
                - come with 2 paddle and 1 seat
Materials - 70 plastic bottles (0.5 liter), wire, plastic paper tape, 2paddle

a) Design Exploration
- develop design.

b) Design Challenges
            - Safe?
            - Convenient?

PRACTICAL – Design Exploration

30 mins – Choose your favourite concept from all your current 3D designs
• Use any tools you wish
• Put the results and a paragraph of description in your Blog
• Through a combo of research and creative thinking explore the possibilities of
concept experimentation, variation and evaluation
• List these items clearly, draft examples and explain your thinking
            o Two Experiments
o Pros & Cons
o Choosing & Refusing

Favorite concept 3D design : Bottle Boat

My Bottle boat

This idea I get it from Thailand. We always face with flood. In that situation, everything around us which can be useful will be used to produce the necessary things like boat. One of the useful things is plastic bottles

Two Experiments

1. This is a similarity with my boat but this one use the bigger plastic bottles to make boat. This boat was designed for two seats and come with long shape.

2. This bottle boat is combination between bottle and wood. It comes with the seat and work like you cycling.

Pros & Cons

Choosing & refusing

I think this two design are very clever for eco-transport but I think the first would be a better one for the concept "personal Eco-transport. The second might use more metarial and more expensive than the first one.

I think my idea and Methvi's idea are the same. We thinking about boat for the personal eco-transport. This is another guy who try to make his boat by bottle and it can use. Actually, everything around us could be use to make something that can help our life easier and don't need to spend a lot of money on it. Bottle boat is one of the example about eco-trasport which use bottles to make and it also can help our world from global warming.

Work by Methavi Pontip

1 : Design Exploration
The photo is taken with iPhone when she went to Mindil beach a month ago. It's the photo of fireworks. She added a filter through Instagram app to make it looks a bit. Then she adjusted brightness, contrast and the image size with Photoshop.
- colour exploration to make the picture more obvious
2 : Design Challenges
- Hard to read the text if you put it as a background

My work

1 : Design Exploration
The photo is taken with iPhone. I added a filter through Instagram.
- colour exploration to make the picture has a better colour because it is too light.
2 : Design Challenges
- Hard to read the text if you put it as a background

o Two Experiments
o Pros & Cons
o Choosing & Refusing

My favorite design concept from last week : Mobile mirror

Mobile mirror
It looks like normal mobile but it is decorated by small pieces of mirror. The screen is made by mirror so it can reflect.

More research
From my research, actually there are many products which has the same concept with my mobile mirror

Two experiment

1. A mobile which has design like a mirror. this design was very popular in Asia girl before. The mobile can use and have all functions like normal mobile phone but design is an interesting thing.

2. A screen guarder. This one is a common thing which I think almost everyone put on their mobile phone but this screen guarder is made like a mirror. If you put it on your phone, you can use it as a mirror and it also make your mobile look different and protect your screen as the same time.

Choosing and refusing
I think the second one would be better idea for mobile mirror. The first one used to be famous but fashion is never stop and this design might not popular anymore. For the second one, it could be good as long as people still use mobile phone.

This video is a preview about the screen guarder which look like a mirror. I think this is a good idea to make your mobile become more useful. It is a good combination between mobile and mirror and it's possible to make and people accept it.

PRACTICAL – Design Perspectives

Based on your favourite 3D design, draft and label 2 variations in your blog

  • •  Design 01: Design in a style that appeals to a community sports group
  • •  Design 02: Design in a style that appeals to a fashion label
  • •  Draft in your blog with hand drawings and notes
•  Give each work a NAME and DESCRIPTION (max 50 words)

•  Design 01: Design in a style that appeals to a community sports group

Thai boxing T-shrit

This is a T-shrit for Thai boxing fan club and Thai boxing comunity. The design is created by boxing glove and some Thai and English text. Actually, I think the design is not quite good. It still has some more thing to put to make it better.

•  Design 02: Design in a style that appeals to a fashion label

                                                                                    T-shirt tell status

I used to design some cartoons on the bag and T-shirt before.  In Thailand, some kind of fashion like this T-shirts are very popular in group of teenager. The T-shirt was design by the text to tell the status like "single, in relationship", or some text like "I'm lonely, I need someone and I love you". In my design, I put more cute pictures in the T-shrit like the picture to make it more interesting and more attractive.

This is my favorite 3D idea "Fake swimming pool in Japan". It is not only good idea but it just amazing!!! Something that is a simple in our life but people put they idea to make it becomes more interesting. This fake pool looks very simple like other swimming pools but it fakes!! that is the interesting thing. I saw some people in the video, they took the pictures with many actions as if they are drown in the pool and it looks so real. I think this pool will be the famous for people who like to take a photo. I think it is a strange idea but it works!!

This is a useful video about "how to create a logo". I think it is a interesting website. The lady doesn't teach how to create a logo like other videos do but she just tells the tips and explain it by her experience. I think it will be useful for everyone who start to create logo. One thing that she said about logo is "simple". I always think about fantastic design for logo but the most important thing that i always forget is logo is "simple".

My favorite video for this week

This video is a tip for drawing a rotated.  In 2D 3D design class, I don't only idea to create a good design but i also need good drawing skill. I love watching drawing video from youtube. I followed this guy in many his posts. He gives many good tips for drawing and some also good for the starter because he explains in a easy way. If you want to look more in his videos, you can search his name "5PencilMethod " in youtube. You might find some video are useful for you. I will post more my favorite videos from him later.
